Greenwich Academy Campus and Neighborhood Guidelines
Let’s make a firm resolution to improve the quality of life on our campus and in our neighborhood by considering transportation for our students that is ecologically sound and neighborhood friendly and by observing a few simple safety rules.

Transportation Options: As you may know, Greenwich Academy and Brunswick School offer bus transportation for our students. In addition, the Town of Greenwich also provides bus service to all students who live in Greenwich as do other towns from which our students travel. If you are interested in evaluating any of these options, we can provide you with a Transportation Request Form. For information about the bus transportation, please contact Martha Franco by telephone 203.552.4439 or email her at Martha_Franco@greenwichacademy.org.

On a more informal basis, we would ask you to consider finding a buddy family in your own neighborhood with whom you could share driving responsibilities. This, too, would reduce GA campus and neighborhood traffic significantly.

Safety Guidelines:

  1. Please refrain from using cell phones while driving in GA’s driveways and parking lots. It is distracting and dangerous, given the traffic and nature of our busy schedules.
  2. In the Upper School circle, please use the left lane for passing only. Please stay in the right-hand side of the circle while waiting for your daughter. The first car in line should be no further up than the top outlined parking space.
  3. Please leave the fire lane at the top of the circle completely free so that the buses can get in and out quickly.
  4. Please enter the US faculty parking lot only at the entrance at the top of the circle.
  5. Please park only in appropriately marked spaces in all GA parking lots and do not block other cars while leaving yours unattended.
  6. Drive slowly at all times in GA driveways and parking lots. Earlier in the school year, the Lower School and Middle School sent home clear instructions for drop-off and pick-up procedures. If you need a copy of these, please call Julie FitzPatrick in the Lower School office at 625.8906 or Anita Martinez in the Middle School office at 625.8905. They also are available on the Parents page of the GA web site.
  7. When driving on neighboring streets, please observe the speed limits and be cautious. Our neighbors have been very accommodating, and we want to reinforce their good will. As you drive on these streets, be aware and considerate of their presence and activities—walking, jogging, cycling or leaving their driveways.
  8. We also would ask parents of student drivers to review these rules with their daughters and remind them of the need to drive slowly and to be careful when parking their cars in their designated spots and when pulling out from those spots.

When everyone is patient and obeys the rules, traffic flow becomes faster and more efficient.  Aggressive driving sets a dangerous example for children who will be behind the wheel themselves all too soon.  Safe and considerate driving on our part sends the right message.

Please review these guidelines and share them with anyone who may be responsible for driving your daughters. Thank you for your patience and cooperation in helping us to maintain safe, pleasant and efficient conditions on our campus and in our neighborhood.
