Beatlemania Sweeps Greenwich Academy
Greenwich Academy’s Middle School Dance Company will twist and shout at BEATLEMANIA, the school’s auction benefit, on Saturday, May 5.
Dancing to two Beatles numbers, “I’ve Just Seen a Face” and “I’m Looking Through You,” these talented students are helping to raise funds for the Academy’s Middle School renovation, which gets underway in just a few weeks time.
Inspired by the op-art, black-and-white sixties fashions, the students have chosen to wear costumes with black-and-white circles, zigzags, squares and rectangles producing a 3-D effect and giving an illusion of movement in the clothing. The students worked with Greenwich Academy’s costume designer, Dawn Korinek, who helped them with the creation and building of their eye-catching outfits.
Their dances were choreographed by Greenwich Academy’s Middle and Upper School dance coordinator Marcia Brooks, and Middle School dance coordinator Jenny Pommiss.
