Greenwich
Academy recently completed major improvements to the campus athletic
facilities. The Raether Athletic Center, which opened in the spring
of 1998, includes two full basketball and volleyball courts, five
international squash courts, a complete exercise room with weights
and Nautilus exercise machines and an athletic training room to
treat sports injuries. A second gym, the Ramsing Gymnasium, has
a full basketball court. The campus maintains three playing fields
for field hockey, lacrosse, soccer and softball and six all-weather
tennis courts. Softball is also played at Teufel Field in Greenwich.
Ice hockey is played at the Dorothy Hamill Rink and the Brunswick
School Edwards Campus on King Street in Greenwich (Directions
to off campus facilities). The acquisition of a grass playing
field on Ridgeview Avenue in July 2004 enabled GA to expand its
lacrosse and soccer programs.
Angela Tammaro Varsity Athletic Field
Greenwich Academy improved and extended the area of its field hockey
and lacrosse fields on campus and has installed a state-of-the-art
synthetic surface that looks and plays like a natural grass field.
The field is one continuous level area from one end
to the other.
