NYC Committee visits the Richard Avedon exhibit at the Met this past fall.

The NYC GA Alumnae Committee spent a day of community service at the Volunteers of America New Hope Shelter, a confidentially located emergency transitional program for survivors of domestic violence.

When commuting to Greenwich for Alumnae Association meetings made no sense for involved alums in New York City, they did what any resourceful Greenwich Academy girls would do: they started their own group! For three years now, ten civic-minded, camaraderie-driven women have been meeting once a month in one another's apartments or at local restaurants for very down-to-business meetings. Committee assignments range from finding community service projects in which to participate to attending cultural exhibits. The group met at the Met for a guided tour of the Richard Avedon portrait exhibit this fall, and then in spring donned gardening gloves for a day of clean-up at Volunteers of America New Hope Shelter, an emergency transitional program for survivors of domestic violence. And lest you think it's all work and no play, they have a great time catching up, renewing friendships, and reminiscing about the good old GA days.

If you live in NYC and wish to be involved, please contact the GA Alumnae Office at 1-800-alumnae.
