Q: Why
do you love lacrosse?
A: "Lacrosse
is a wonderful sport-I have loved it since the first time I
picked up a stick. It's definitely one of the faster sports
out there-the pace keeps the game exciting no matter where on
the field you are. It's just amazing to both watch and play
the game when there is good passing and movement all over the
field."
Q: How
did GA prepare you for college athletics?
A: "On
most high school teams you see one stand-out player trying
to carry the team on his or her back. At GA, however, there
was a great emphasis on the team. I think most athletes reach
college and are surprised by how much you rely on your teammates.
Coming out of GA, I felt much more prepared than most."
Q:
Did you have any mentors at GA that inspired you?
A: "The
entire coaching staff at GA served as inspiration. Everyone
knew so much about their sports and having the chance to learn
from them was incredible. I think the number of GA alums who
have gone on to play sports at the collegiate level is a real
tribute to the level of coaching at GA."
Q:
What do you miss the most about sports at GA?
A: "The
team unity at GA is unparalleled. Both on and off the field,
the team camaraderie was something very hard to match. One
of the major reasons why I chose Williams was because I knew
it was similar to GA in both athletic and academic respects.
Overall, I definitely miss the people the most, although I've
been lucky because a large portion of the GA team has been
transported to Williams. I get to play with Crista Petrelli
'01 in both field hockey and lacrosse, and Clare Whipple '01
and Jaye Gregory '02 in field hockey (Clare and Jaye are also
stars of the Williams squash team)."
Q:
How does playing in college differ from playing at GA?
A: "Women's
lacrosse is a much more physical game in college than at the
high school level, and the overall pace is much quicker. It's
still all about the basics: throwing and catching. The major
difference is that we play teams that never drop the ball,
so finding a way to defend them is much more difficult."
Q:
What do you think you want to do after college?
A: "As
of yet, I haven't really decided what I want to do after college.
Law school is a definite possibility, but hopefully, I'll
have the opportunity to experience life outside of school
for a couple of years before heading down that road."
