Q: Why
do you love field hockey?
A: "
I love playing field hockey because I love being part of a team
that can work for a common goal. I love being able to wind down
at the end of a school day and just go have fun at practice doing
what all of us love to do together."
Q: How
did GA prepare you for college athletics?
A: "GA prepared
me very well for college athletics because it was at GA where
I learned how to be a healthy competitor and where I learned that
if I work hard I can succeed. My GA coaches were amazing and always
pushed me to try and become a better athlete, which is crucial
in college athletics there is always more you can do to
become better. Never settle."
Q:
Did you have any mentors at GA that inspired you?
A: "Coach
Moe and Ms. T were my mentors at GA. They taught me never to give
up and they taught me to really love the game. But they also showed
me what a true honor it is to be part of a team, and how a team
can go far if it learns how to work together and be on the same
page. They both believed in me as an athlete, which helped me
push myself and want to improve in my athletics."
Q:
What do you miss the most about sports at GA?
A: "I mostly
miss my teammates and the GA pride. We had a lot of intense rivals
for whom we always got very pumped up, which was a lot of fun."
Q:
How does playing in college differ from playing at GA?
A: "It is
much more of a commitment, and it is also on turf, which was different
than the grass at GA in my days there. It is a Division 1 program,
so the teams we play are very good, and, in contrast to high school,
there are no decent or average players, everybody is very strong
and has had a lot of different field hockey experience."
Q:
What do you think you want to do after college?
A: "I think
I want to continue with psychology and possibly attend graduate
school. I am thinking about going back afterward to be a guidance
counselor at a high school."
