Brittany Merritt GA'02
Q: Why
do you love lacrosse?
A: "
Lacrosse has been my passion ever since I was introduced
to it in fifth grade. I love the sport because when I play, I
feel so free. It has always been a release for me because the
game is so fast-paced and most definitely exciting to watch."
Q: How
did GA prepare you for college athletics?
A: "At GA,
I learned how to balance academics and athletics and excel in
both. Also, the level of coaching I received at GA prepared me
for the tough practices, coaching and difficulty of play I have
encountered at the collegiate level."
Q:
Did you have any mentors at GA that inspired you?
A: "Every
coach I had at GA was an inspiration to me, but one that I can't
and never will forget is Ms. T, of course. Hands down, she is
the best coach for whom I've played. I can attribute much of
my athletic success to all the GA coaches because they
are tremendous."
Q:
What do you miss the most about sports at GA?
A: "I
miss playing with a great group of girls, who all shared the
same passion for lacrosse. Mostly, I miss the camaraderie on
and off the field and the team unity. I can't lie; I miss those
team dinners on Friday nights, too!"
Q:
How does playing in college differ from playing at GA?
A: "At
the collegiate level, it is a more physical and fast-paced game.
Another difference is it is much more time consuming than in
high school. While I am in season, I eat, sleep and breathe lacrosse.
It is a real four-year commitment, but I wouldn't trade it for
anything."
Q:
What do you think you want to do after college?
A: "There
are an infinite number of possibilities, but ultimately, I plan
to attend law school. However, I hope to take some time off and
teach before heading to law school."
