Diploma Requirements:
To receive a Greenwich Academy diploma, a student must have passed
the following:
4 years of English
3 years of Mathematics
3 years of Science
(Biology, Chemistry and Physics)
3 years of Foreign Language (or to Level III)
3 years of History (including U.S. History)
1 year of Arts (art, dance, drama or music)
4 years of Physical Education (no credit given)
In addition to the above, students are expected to take elective
courses in order to attain a minimum of 20 credits for graduation.
One year is equivalent to 1 credit.
Advanced Courses:
Greenwich Academy currently offers twenty-four advanced placement
courses in a variety of subjects including History, Science, Math
and Art. In addition, Academy students may take advanced placement
courses at Brunswick School. Honors courses are offered in French
and Spanish for level IV and above, Mathematics and Science.
Student Activities and Community Service:
Students are encouraged to participate in a wide variety of clubs
and student publications, all of which are open to every grade level.
The Community Service Program provides students with opportunities
to learn from others whose experiences differ from their own by
bringing students into direct contact with those they serve. In
addition, all graduating seniors must complete a community service
senior project.
Athletics:
All students participate in the Academy's athletic program every
season. A few students participate in independent sports. Upper
School students may choose to dance full time in any of the
three sports seasons.
